screenplay by Lisa St.Aubin de teran
She goes to look for her mother who left her as a baby when she went to town for the only job a young woman can find. Sapa searches without success. Desperate and hungry, she finds some cleaning work in the local brothel, and later she takes care of polishing the nails of the prostitutes. As the story unfolds, the young Sapa and the older La Rusa become bonded : they both enjoy discovering their mutual and common gift for dreams and fantasy. Isabella, the elder prostitute in the brothel wants to take over the power of La Rusa. A war rages between Isabella and the girls on one side and La Rusa and Sapa on the other. In the final battle, Sapa uses her magical and poisonous plants to destroy Isabella ‘s greed and meanness. The brothel burns down. La Rusa and Sapa escape, leave town and travel to the sea they have never seen. The glitter of the sun on the waves is enough to give them a sense of happiness.
